MY YEAR WITH LORRAINE by Tanya M. Wheeler.

This play is based on real life events, and the real Lorraine lives in the UK. Playwright, Tanya M. Wheeler, met Lorraine Cavanaugh twenty years ago in just the way described in the play. Tanya offered to help Lorraine get her GCSE in English and tutored her for a year. The play explores the development of the friendship that formed during the tutoring. Both characters experienced loneliness and isolation as well as struggling with difficult home lives. Lorraine’s husband, Mike, was an invalid, while the character of Kate has experienced family tragedy which has damaged her marital relationship.
